I think you live in the past.
The newest internet explorer ain't that bad.
It has problems, a lot of them to be honest, but it's still 20 times better than what we got with win7.

Dude, when internet goes down you don't scream like crazy...
First, you check whether your router's admin panel still works. If so, you check the DNS status and settings, and eventually wirelessly restart the machine (cause the router itself is too far away)

If you don't have access to the gateway, you can reconnect some cables. If that doesn't work... you're screwed...
